Hula Hoop Disneyland

Blast to the Past 1988 and '89
This next shoot we've seen before,
and yes, Snow White was really hula hooping 3 hoops and
The Giant jukebox in the middle of the hub housed a DJ in the top
I love this birds eye view...During one of the 50s events at the park
I hosted a show out at Small World Mall
In the show we had a champion Yo-yo , Frisbee and Hula Hoopest.
I picked up a Hoop and was a natural...who knew?
Myself and 3 others were booked as entertainment
out a Videopolis at night.
But before the sun went down we would do pre-parade on mainstreet
[I love the crowd control girls face]

What's of note in this shot isn't the hula hooping
but the stage that was built in front of the Train Station steps!

[This picture was mailed to me from a guest]
This shot was taken on the Videopolis Stage

called The Disneyland Story...
In the show was Snow White and her Prince

Before the show the characters would do meet and greet
in Tomorrowland.

Anything Can Happen Day...

Wednesday: Anything Can Happen Day -

Today is a day that is filled with surprises,
Nobody knows what's gonna happen.
Why, you might find yourself on an elephant on the moon
Or riding in an auto underneath a blue lagoon.
Yes, we Mouseketeers think you're gonna have some thrills,
And you know it's true that a laugh can cure your ills.
And so, if you're pleasure bent, we are glad to present
The Mouseketeers' "Anything Can Happen Day."
Title: Anything Can Happen
Words & Music by: Jimmie Dodd

Mickey flew across the stage on a magic carpet
wearing his sorc
erer's robe and hat.

Then we recreated The "Sweetshop Rock" number
that the Original Mouseketeers did in 1956

In the middle of the number Cubby and his drums were wheeled
out on stage and they sang " Hey Cubby Boy"
it was another number written by Jimmy Dodd.

You know the feeling that you get,
each time your birthday comes.

Well that's the feeling that you get
when Cubby plays the drums

Hey Cubby Boy, Play Cubby Boy
Play those drums!

The 4x4 platform was for Sharon. She and Cubby had a drum and tap off...
Sherry's face says it all! We just had a BALL!!!
Here's the Name tag Flag

Tuesday Is Guest Star Day!

Today is Tuesday, you know what that means,
We're gonna have a special guest...

"Today's Guest Star: Goofy"
"Do I come out now?"
We recreated a Charleston number
that they had done on the Original MM club...
Goofy started off the number and then Lonnie came out...

Then Bonnie joined the fun
and by the end all the Mouseketters were on stage
I miss the old space stage...
Lonnie was suppose to wear the Raccoon coat.
but he couldn't dance in it...
So of course, give it to Goofy, with 22" shoes, no vision and
wearing a fiberglass head...

Here a close up...
This was one of my favorite numbers...
Bonnie was a Doll!

Today is Tuesday, you know what that means,
We're gonna have a special guest
So get out the broom and sweep the place clean
And dust off the mat so the welcome can be seen.
Roll out the carpet, strike up the band,
And give out with a Hip, Hooray! (Hip, Hooray!)
Wiggle your ears like good Mouseketeers
We're gonna present a guest today
'Cause Tuesday is "Guest Star Day!

Extra

On Sundays our friend
over at Vintage Disneyland Tickets gives us a bonus
[How he comes up with all the incredible stuff for us is beyond me]
but today he's spring cleaning...
So I throw in a bonus on his behalf.

Here's another one of my old slides...

Not sure what show it was.... ??? or the year...
Happy Sunday!

FESTIVAL JAPAN

In the late 1970's and early 80's, Disneyland

would have special weekend "festivals" to celebrate different countries.

"Festival Japan”, “Festival Mexico" and “Festival Canada".

Disneyland would host cultural and performing arts groups from those countries,
There would be special demonstrations and foods
with a special parade and photo locations around the park

Festival Japan was always held around this time of year.
Here's a DL Line cover story from 1981
