Michael Jackson

My memories of Michael Jackson are from the late 70s and early 80s.
Michael used to come down to the park all the time, no one really bothered him,
he would just enjoy the park as a "normal" guest.
When he did get recognized, he would just pop backstage, till he crowd left, and sit and talk with the characters, either at the egg house break area or the Inn Between.
I remember one night we were all sitting at the Inn Between patio around 9pm
and here comes Michael... we chatted awhile and he really wanted to see the fireworks, but couldn't go back in the park. so we took him up to the stairwell landing off the back of Monsanto,
which was a great place to watch the fireworks.
He was just a shy guy back then...

This picture was taken from when he filmed the
Disneyland 25th T.V. special at the park,1980,

Thanks Anne for posting this]
THEN:
Somewhere around 1983...
The whole Glove and Jacket thing started...
he never came to the park unless he was all "dressed up"!
He always drew a crowd and because of the scene this created,
S
ecurity had to ask him
to Call the park before he came down so they could be prepared...

Gone was shy Michael who would just visit backstage...

This picture was taken at Michael's home in the mid to late 80s
Snow White and the Dwarfs went to visit him...
Yesterday was a sad day filled with Memories...

  1. Thanks for sharing your personal memories of MJ, nice to hear he was able to enjoy time at the park as a "Regular Guest" I bet he held on to those memories closely...

  2. James! I believe I was there too (taking Michael up the stairs to the best fireworks spot at D-land)... with Kay as well (remember her, tall height range). Either that or Kay and I took him (and his bodyguard/friends) up there another time. OR, maybe I am mixing Kay up with you -- did you have long hair then? (just kidding). I didn't remember you being there, but then I think I was a bit star struck. I do remember how mellow and nice he was. And quite chatty and excited to meet us (imagine that).
