Disneyland State Fair 1987

Well here is just a few select pictures
of the Park Dressing from State Fair

Coming into the Park you see
the first Ferris Wheel
Town Square had Midway games and pennants
[sort of reminded me of a used car lot,
without the cars]
Looking at the hub you see the Ferris Wheel
and you may just get a glimpse of the Castle
the view from the castle
Nothing says "Fair" like
Tree Climbing, Log Rolling and Ax Throwing!
Small World Mall
was turned into a midway!
and smack dab in front of Small world
was a diving tank!!!
Carnival Prizes Galore!

Disneyland State Fair Parade

1987
Back when Disneyland went all out for a parade...
sometimes they missed the mark, but
they didn't hold anything back!
The opening unit was a "push" unit
No motor on this baby!
The midway float
with Farris wheel... sitting in the seats ,
they look like 'Whatnots" [background muppetts]
Just in time for the 4th of July!
Love these costumes!
John Deere sponsored tractors for the parade...
They were celebrating their 150th Anniversary
[I loved the pigs hats for this parade]
Pluto pulling his sheep down the street...
The Animals that were in the parade,
where all the blue ribbon winners from
all the County Fairs in California.
and Donald gets a lift!

The Clean up... making the street smell fresh again!
Crows and Scarecrows, John Deere O' MY!
And what Parade would be complete without Dancing Veggies!!!
[in the background you'll see Dumbo's Firehouse float
Painted red and used in this parade as a barn with Clara Cluck in the top of it]

Next post... Shots of how they "Dressed the Park" Yikes!

Circus Fantasy Parade

Circus Fantasy
Lots of "heavy" real circus costumes!
being that they were made out of Sequines
and Feathers... They smelled pretty bad!!!
Lion's
and Lama's
and Elephants... O'My!
These next few shots were taken at
Small World Step Off Before the parade
.
Here's a couple of the clowns
that were hired from the "REAL" Circus
Barnum and Bailey

Ain't she cute?

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade LP

Here's a little record I bought
in the record shop
at the park in the late 70s
the size of a 45
but played at 33 1/3

Sort of an impulse buy,
because I really couldn't listen to it over and over...
it drove me up a wall...lol
who knew years later I'd be hearing it nightly,
from the rooftop of Main St.
or the top of the castle,
as a parade lead?

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade

Summer's here and the time is right,
for Dancin in the Street!
These shots are from 1982
The summers were great for employees of the parade...
You came in, Did your first parade,
got on the tram back to the locker room,
changed costume, got back on the tram
and were whisked over to "Bear Country"
For the "Bear Country Hoe Down"
Then back on the tram,
change back into Elect. Parade costumes
to do your 2nd Parade!

There was never time to get bored...
We just had FUN!!!

I liked the Fox and the hound unit!
and I loved that they reused 2
America on Parade costumes for the drivers...
they looked funny... but the scale was right.

The "Aladdin" Gamble

Entertainment Weekly 1992
Here's a great article
on the insights
of the Aladdin process

Cut! Song Out!

Here's some great comparisons
All in all,
I think this was great insight,
to the whole process,
of getting Aladdin off the ground!
