Michael Jackson

My memories of Michael Jackson are from the late 70s and early 80s.
Michael used to come down to the park all the time, no one really bothered him,
he would just enjoy the park as a "normal" guest.
When he did get recognized, he would just pop backstage, till he crowd left, and sit and talk with the characters, either at the egg house break area or the Inn Between.
I remember one night we were all sitting at the Inn Between patio around 9pm
and here comes Michael... we chatted awhile and he really wanted to see the fireworks, but couldn't go back in the park. so we took him up to the stairwell landing off the back of Monsanto,
which was a great place to watch the fireworks.
He was just a shy guy back then...

This picture was taken from when he filmed the
Disneyland 25th T.V. special at the park,1980,

[You can see the Video clip over at our friend Anne's Blog
http://bestpossiblejob.blogspot.com
Thanks Anne for posting this]
THEN:
Somewhere around 1983...
The whole Glove and Jacket thing started...
he never came to the park unless he was all "dressed up"!
He always drew a crowd and because of the scene this created,
S
ecurity had to ask him
to Call the park before he came down so they could be prepared...

Gone was shy Michael who would just visit backstage...

This picture was taken at Michael's home in the mid to late 80s
Snow White and the Dwarfs went to visit him...
Yesterday was a sad day filled with Memories...

Farrah Fawcett-Majors

Wow
What a day!

I posted this last week...
But it seamed fitting to see it again today!

Disneyland Parking lot Stickers

Before DCA, when the Main Parking was in front of the park.
Employees drove in through the Harbor House entrance
and parked on the Harbor side of the lot.
[thus the employee lot]
You had to have one of these on your rear view mirror
to Park thereNow after your shift was another story...
how many times did I loose my car and wonder the lot????

Disneyland Window Decal

Before Vinyl stickers,
Before Plastic Window Clings
There were these Disneyland Water Decals
You would soak them in water and then slide them
onto glass.
In the 70s, Cars everywhere had these decals in their back windows

Disney Matchbooks

Remember the days of the
Tobacco shop on Main Street.
I found these little jems in a box...
crazy the things I've kept!
O the days when people smoked in restaurants,
Stores and just standing on Main Street...

I will put the VDT warning here:
*Smoking Is Bad For YOU*
I say this as a cancer survivor and believe me
CHEMO is NO FUN!

Years ago,
I liked to have these matchbooks around the house
... I don't dare put them out today!
Someone might use them! LOL

and I just heard today that the cost of a pack of
cigarettes is on the rise to between $6 and $10
depending where you live! WOW!

Disney Main Gate Pass and Silver Pass

1985
Yet we have New rules!
I found the letter that explains the new change:
I think our friend over at Vintage Disneyland Tickets
had the right Idea:
The change happened when the park
got rid of ride tickets altogether.

Disney Main Gate Pass 81'-84'

Now these are the years
that get tricky!

1981 & 82' were much that same as before
You could sign in you and 3 Guest
any day of the year and get FREE parking!
Also 1982 EPCOT is added.

THEN- 1983...

BIG CHANGE! and what a shock!
Jan. 1 - Dec. 31
the new rules are: You and 3 Guest
"4 Times a YEAR
"
(that's 361 less the years before.)
Then in 1984
They changed the rules again
and they added "2" extra days.
Now you can sign in a total of "6" whole days during the year!
(84' was a leap year... so that's
362 less then then 2 years before!)
This was the time when the WD "Company "
became a "Corporation"
and started caring for the dollar more then the employee.

Disney Main Gate Pass

"Anyone want to go to the Park?"
That's what you'd hear daily up until the early 80s

These passes from 74-79
would get you and 3 other people into
Disneyland or Disney World
any day of the week!
Christmas-Easter-You name it!
No Black out dates for these little puppies!

I sure miss those days
