The First Very Merry Christmas Parade

I got my job at Disneyland
Cast as a Dancing Penguin with Mary Poppins.
I was living in northern CA. at the time
and would fly down on weekends for rehearsals
[This was when a flight would cost $18 round trip!]

The Parade route

This was the audition/casting card.
I can't believe I kept this stuff!
Backstage Before the parade
My First DL I.D.
Our float was the last of the music box floats...
I love how it looks like Mary is being hung by the weather vane!
and he Balloon train behind us...

Aristocats Tour

I've been real busy as a of late,
but I'm back with a new post!

November 1981
Before Video and DVD.
You had to wait 7 years to see a Disney movie in re-release.
But when they did, Buena Vista [Disney's Distribution],
would do a big tour to promote the movie.
We would Fly On the only company plane [Walt's Plane-Mickey One],
and do like 25 city's in 28 days!
This publicty photo is from The Aristocats 1981 tour.
With Wally and Fulton!
Fulton as the MC and Wally as the Butler.
we would do T.V. shows, Hospitals, Parades
and what ever else they had lined up for us in that city.
We had a BALL! I can't say enough wonderful things about these two
talented men!

So why do I post this now?
because that year we did the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.
It was Cold that morning... But O' we had FUN!

Here's a close up...
The float was made of plywood and this is before you had to be
safety strapped to the float, they just told you to "Hang On!"
Those were the days!

Dumbo Circus Parade

The Dumbo Circus Parade at Disneyland
This summer Parade was the Dumbo Unit
taken out of the Christmas Parade and expanded!
This is a great shot and you can see in the background, the Bath tub clown,
The Elephants from Jungle Book dressed for the circus and of course,
Dumbo running from window to window tyring to escape the fire.
Mickey rode on one of the music box floats from the
1st Very Merry Christmas Parade 1977.
In that parade,
Dumbo's ringmaster rode on this same float

I loved the Big Head Chipmunks!
Why Dale is holding a towel on the parade route?

The Fireman clowns ran around the firehouse float trying to save Dumbo.
Those were the days and the parades!!!!

Let's Honor America!

Tonight the American people have spoken !!!
I was thinking, we can now go back to Honoring America!
This [Tag Flag] ribbon was given to employee's
to wear on their name tags.
It was for a special weekend honoring America,
we had others for different festivals and events...
but tonight I thought of it, so here it is!!!

Election Day!...

These words have never been more true...
If you haven't voted...
What are you waiting for? a Parade???

That said... here are 3 photos I took, in 1976,
of A.O.P.
