DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade - Cinderella Dancers

Prince Charming stood on the famous staircase
with shoe in hand,
Talk about a koosh job!
he didn't even have to talk!
(Sorry Joe)
The Clock tower flanked by
2 canopy's with 12 dancing couples
following behind Cinderellas pumpkin coach.

These Canopy's were HEAVY!
and awkward...
all 6 canopy carriers had to move in unison!
if one person wasn't carrying their weight,
you knew it!
This was a hard job
and the guys who did it were incredible!

DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade - Cinderella

The first thing you would see
is the Mice pulling the pumpkin coach...
Matterhorn Way was a great resting place
for the mice...

I love the kid in the background,
"Forget the parade, I just want to play on this great bench!"
Can you imagine what it was like,
being Cinderella,
sitting in the Coach waving,
as the Fairy God Mother bonces around in the back...

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade - Alice

Alice In Wonderland...Electrified!
Turtles, Snails, a Centipede and Lady Bugs...
Don't remember them in the movie
but they were fun to watch twirl around...

Here's a shot from the 70's
Love the Butterflies!

Here's the Mickey Unit...
The Logo Drum!
Goofy driving the train
and Mickey and Minnie riding on the drum!

In 1978
Mickey Mouse Celebrated his 50th Birthday!
and Mickey got his own float!
Tomorrow we move onto the Toy Solider Push Units

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade

1979
Over the next week,
I'll be posting pictures from the MSEP 79'
This was such a Summer time favorite!
[some of the pictures are a little blurry]
and I hope they bring back good memories,

As we enter the parking lot we see the marquee
announcing the parade...
The first thing we see is the Blue Fairy
waving and greeting everyone!
Following along behind her are her Knights
carrying her train
Looks like the lights are still on
in the Global lockers, across from the fire house,
next to the Emporium.
This last shot is from the early 70's
[Her wand is on the right side,
she wears no gloves and
She has "Pages" carrying her train...
not "Knights"]
I just think it's a cool picture!

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade LP

Here's a little record I bought
in the record shop
at the park in the late 70s
the size of a 45
but played at 33 1/3

Sort of an impulse buy,
because I really couldn't listen to it over and over...
it drove me up a wall...lol
who knew years later I'd be hearing it nightly,
from the rooftop of Main St.
or the top of the castle,
as a parade lead?

The DISNEYLAND Main Street Electrical Parade

Summer's here and the time is right,
for Dancin in the Street!
These shots are from 1982
The summers were great for employees of the parade...
You came in, Did your first parade,
got on the tram back to the locker room,
changed costume, got back on the tram
and were whisked over to "Bear Country"
For the "Bear Country Hoe Down"
Then back on the tram,
change back into Elect. Parade costumes
to do your 2nd Parade!

There was never time to get bored...
We just had FUN!!!

I liked the Fox and the hound unit!
and I loved that they reused 2
America on Parade costumes for the drivers...
they looked funny... but the scale was right.
